Out of the Shop: ZR Custom’s Maiden Ride in San Diego
Every build gets a first ride. The ZR Custom got its in San Diego — 23 miles through the city with a group, and we had @holymango along for photos. This is what came out of that day.
The Meet-Up
The group gathered near the harbor — palm trees, green grass, a mix of bikes. The ZR Custom looked right at home with the helmet sitting on the seat like it had been doing this for years.

Ocean Beach
From there the group rolled to Ocean Beach. The OB Fishing Pier was the main stop — and holymango made the most of it.

In the Details
holymango didn’t just shoot wide. Here’s what this build looks like up close.

23 Miles. 98% Battery.
After the full ride — 23 miles through the city — the pack was still reading 98%. That’s what a 4,032Wh battery does. On most builds, you’re calculating range anxiety. On this one, you’re just riding.
The 7-Eleven Stop
No group ride is complete without a convenience store pull-off. The ZR Custom fit right in at the 7-Eleven parking lot — helmet on the seat, not a care in the world.

Maiden trip complete. If you want to see how this build came together from a bare SXS ZR frame, the full build breakdown is here.
Want Something Custom?
The ZR Custom was built around a specific brief: maximum range, a full suite of custom electronics, and a hard cap at under 30 mph to stay within Class 3 limits — street-legal without a motorcycle license or registration. The motor and battery could push well past that. The build is tuned not to. You get the range, the features, and the riding experience without the legal overhead.
That’s one brief. We build to yours. Faster, lighter, off-road, long-haul, cargo — whatever the use case, we’ll design around it. Reach out and tell us what you’re after.
